Ellison Construction Ltd is committed to conducting all business activities in a manner that protects the environment, prevents pollution, supports sustainable construction practices, and complies with all applicable environmental legislation and other compliance obligations.

The Company is committed to maintaining and continually improving an Environmental Management System (EMS) aligned with the principles of ISO 14001:2015. This policy applies to all employees, subcontractors, and persons working on behalf of Ellison Construction Ltd at all company locations and project sites.

Core Environmental Commitments

Ellison Construction Ltd commits to:

  • Protect the environment and prevent pollution arising from our construction and maintenance activities.
  • Fulfil all applicable compliance obligations, including legal, regulatory, contractual, and industry requirements.
  • Continually improve our environmental performance through the operation and review of our Environmental Management System.
  • Support the UK’s net-zero ambitions by reducing carbon emissions associated with our operations, plant, and supply chain.
  • Manage and minimise waste in accordance with the waste hierarchy: prevention, reuse, recycling, recovery, and disposal as a last resort.
  • Protect biodiversity and the natural environment on and around our project sites.
  • Engage responsibly with our supply chain, promoting sustainable procurement and encouraging suppliers and subcontractors to meet our environmental standards.
  • Ensure all employees and contractors receive appropriate environmental training and understand their responsibilities under this policy.

Environmental Objectives

To deliver on our commitments, Ellison Construction Ltd has established the following environmental objectives:

  • Reduce carbon emissions from company vehicles, plant, and site operations year-on-year.
  • Increase the proportion of waste diverted from landfill through recycling and reuse.
  • Minimise the use of natural resources, water, and energy on all projects.
  • Achieve zero pollution incidents arising from our activities.
  • Ensure sustainable sourcing of materials and products wherever practicable.
  • Set, monitor, and review measurable environmental targets on an annual basis.
  • Encourage feedback from clients, employees, suppliers, and stakeholders to support continual environmental improvement.

How We Will Achieve These Objectives

To achieve our environmental objectives, Ellison Construction Ltd will:

  • Maintain and continually improve our ISO 14001:2015-aligned Environmental Management System.
  • Undertake environmental risk assessments for all projects and operational activities, identifying and managing significant environmental aspects and impacts.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and response arrangements to prevent and respond to environmental incidents.
  • Monitor and measure environmental performance against our objectives, investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and management reviews of environmental performance.
  • Integrate environmental considerations into project planning, procurement, and operational decision-making.
  • Engage with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to promote environmental best practice throughout our projects.
  • Communicate this policy to all employees and make it available to interested parties upon request.
