Refurbishment of Cinema – Hebden Bridge Picture House

Client: Hebden Royd Town Council
Architect: GAGARIN Studio

Following devastating floods in the centre of Hebden Bridge in 2012, we were appointed by the council to undertake refurbishment works to the thriving 490 seat cinema and multifunctional arts venue which offers a huge variety of films, ranging from mainstream to arthouse and foreign language.

We removed the existing rows of seating and replacing the damaged floor finishes which involved careful planning, working to the strict programme to avoid disruption to scheduled screenings.

Maintenance work to an existing leaking flat roof was also undertaken, replacing the existing roof felt, lead flashings and rainwater goods.

We were also appointed to refurbish the toilets and disabled provisions in 2013. All male, female and disabled toilets were re-tiled, had new cubicles installed and new sanitary ware fitted.

We believe the upgrades will help the independent cinema grow their different audiences.
